The Spiritual Renewal Benefit is a period of time during which non-pastoral staff will set aside their normal responsibilities for spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and professional renewal. The Spiritual Renewal Benefit is offered to a full-time staff member who completes the following years of continuous service at Northview Church (see chart below). It is understood that the staff member will stay with Northview Church for at least one full year after returning from the Spiritual Renewal time off.
- Eligible staff must submit a written request, outlining how the time will be used, to their supervisor and HR at least 6 weeks prior to the proposed starting date. HR will submit a request to an Executive Pastor for final review.
- The proposal should include activities planned and a strategy for coverage of ministry responsibilities during the Spiritual Renewal. The desired outcome is that the staff member will return spiritually and mentally renewed.
- The Spiritual Renewal is separate and distinct from accrued PTO.
- No PTO can be used within four weeks before or after the Spiritual Renewal
- No weekend comp days can be used during a quarter(s) in which the Spiritual Renewal occurs.
- No two staff members in the same ministry department/campus (excluding spouses) may be on Spiritual Renewal at the same time. Priority is given on a seniority basis.
- All time off for Spiritual Renewal must be submitted via TriNet and approved by the employee’s supervisor. Select “Leave with Pay” in TriNet as the time off type so that it doesn’t take from your available PTO hours. Place what the time off is for in the notes.
- The staff member’s full wages and benefits will continue during Spiritual Renewal. To help cover expenses incurred for activities during this time, Northview Church will contribute an additional $150 for each year consecutively served as a full-time staff member.
