NORTHVIEW CHURCH has known a rich history of change and growth, but its beginnings were simple. In the fall of 1980, under the leadership of founding pastor Tommy Paino, 30 people began meeting in the cafeteria of Carmel Elementary School. It was the start of Northview Church. Three years later, the congregation moved to its first permanent location at 131st Street and Gray Road in Carmel.
IN 1985, Northview purchased 81 acres of land on the southwest corner of 131st Street and Hazel Dell Parkway.
IN 1995, Northview completed construction of a new worship campus on the 81 acres — on the highest hill in Hamilton County. The first service was held that June, with more than 1,200 in attendance.
IN 1999, Tommy Paino passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Later that year, Steve Poe was elected to serve as Northview’s new senior pastor.
