Step 8 | Affirming Identity

Includes: Mudder/Daughter Mud Run and Mother/Son Adventure Race

(7-12th grade) We plan events designed for parents and students to have spiritual conversations about their true identity as children of God.

The Mudder/Daughter Mud Run is geared towards 7th-12th grade girls and their moms or mother-figures. The day will start out with an important message about our identity in Christ. Moms or mother-figures will also have the opportunity to share God-given strengths and gifts they see in their girls.

Afterward, everyone will slide, slip, jump, splash, and splat their way to the finish line in a 1.5 run/walk through various obstacles and mud challenges. Each year we mix up the course and the obstacles to make them new and improved! The goal is to get you muddy from head to toe. Feel free to come dressed in a creative team outfit. This event only happens every other year so don’t miss it!

The Mother/Son Adventure Race is geared towards 7th-12th grade guys and their moms or mother-figures. The morning starts with participants competing in an “Amazing Race” style competition around the Carmel Campus property. They are given different maps and it's their job to figure out where to go. Once at the location, they will be given a challenge to earn points. Some challenges are goofy, some are embarrassing, and others are physically challenging. The goal is to wrack-up as many points as possible, at as many challenges as possible within the allotted time. Winners will be announced at the end of the event.

After everyone gets back, the whole group will enjoy lunch together. During lunch, they will hear a message on identity and treating women in a God-honoring way. They will then have the opportunity for a meaningful moment to talk together about what they learned from the message, informed by a discussion guide that will be provided!
